IMPACT STORY
Using What You Have to Make a Difference
Bethel AME Church of Ardmore, Pennsylvania, has been a beacon of faith and service and a thriving neighborhood hub for 129 years.
Under the leadership of fourth-generation preacher Rev. Carolyn Cavaness, Bethel AME lives out a tradition of service to God throughout its community. One of the many ways they are changing lives for the better is through Ardmore Victory Gardens; launched in 2018, it promotes wellness, food sovereignty, and intergenerational learning.
“We are using what we have to make a Difference and inspire others.”
Good FOR ALL
Bethel was a cornerstone of support during the pandemic, providing resources and information to the community, and their Bethel Academy supports academic success through free after-school programming for children in grades K-8.
“We are using what we have to make a difference and inspire others,” said Rev. Cavaness, who started her role as pastor at Bethel AME in 2014. “We believe in evangelism and community engagement, and we actively join with our brothers and sisters in other faith traditions to lift everyone up.”
