Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I; Send me!” Isaiah 6:8

Living up to the call of Isaiah, Parker United Methodist Church in Parker, Colorado, is doing new things in its community to connect with its neighbors and let them know they matter and are loved.

One new innovative thing is Spark!, a worship service built specifically for children. With play areas around the altar, kids can run free around the sanctuary, making it easier for young families to attend.

Thanks to a loan from Wesleyan Impact Partners, Parker built a new sanctuary that is a musical home for its neighbors, hosting events, including performances by a “5,280 Choir” performed by senior members and open to the community. Members are also encouraged to keep Manna Bags on hand to provide essentials for unhoused individuals when they meet them in parks, at stop signs, and on city streets.

“We see ourselves as community matchmakers,” said Pastor Cody Anderson. “We connect people who will really benefit from each other. Doing that and teaching others to do that is the best way to expand our witness.”
